Why pick Vetta Trainer if you train seriously

The training software market has plenty of offerings for two extremes: free apps like Strava (great for viewing activities but no planning), and premium platforms for pro coaches that cost USD 20-30/month in software plus USD 200-600/month in human coaching. There's a gap in the middle: the serious amateur athlete who trains 5-7 days a week, races, wants to improve, but doesn't have a human coach or the budget for one.

Vetta Trainer is built for that athlete.

What Vetta does well

### 1. Auto-engine that builds your week

This is the most important thing. Most platforms assume you know how to periodize (or that you have a coach who does). Vetta doesn't: it builds your week for you.

  • Takes your sport (trail, road, cycling, MTB, swim, triathlon).
  • Applies one of 13 classic training philosophies (Lydiard, Daniels, Magness, polarized, Sweet Spot, Norwegian, Kilian Trail, Maffetone, Coggan, Skiba, FIRST, MAF, Ultra-Koop).
  • Computes your phase (base / build / peak / taper) based on weeks to your goal.
  • Reads your CTL (chronic training load over 42 days) and applies `safe-ramp` to keep you healthy.
  • Generates 3-7 sessions with day, type, duration, TSS and target zone.

  • You open Vetta on Mondays and you know what to do each day. No need to think about periodization. If you know, you can change philosophy manually; if not, smart defaults do their thing.

    ### 2. Honest pricing

USD 9.99/month for Pro. USD 99/year if you pay annually (-17%).

Compared to having a human coach (USD 200-600/month in EU/USA), Vetta is 1/10 to 1/20 the cost. It doesn't replace a human coach when you need one — it complements one, or it's enough when you can't afford one.

    ### 3. Real prediction for trail at altitude

This is where Vetta shines and most apps fail. If you run:

  • Pikes Peak, Cusco, La Paz, Aconcagua: altitude > 3000 m. Vetta corrects your prediction based on average altitude of the course.
  • UTMB, Hardrock, Western States: ultras with serious vert. Vetta uses ITRA effective-km (where D+/2 counts as added km) instead of naive Riegel.
  • Cocodona, Badwater: combination of altitude + heat + vert. Vetta has a heat/humidity calculator separately.

  • You're doing your first ultra and want to know if your "sub-12h on 60K with 3500m+" goal is realistic: Vetta tells you "with your current VDOT you project 11:30-12:45, achievable". Other apps give you a Riegel number that doesn't apply to ultra-trail.

    ### 4. 4 languages with native copy

Spanish, English, German, French. Not literal translation — written by humans who understand how the sport is talked about in each culture. If you live in Madrid, Berlin, Lyon or Buenos Aires, you read Vetta in your language, in your register.

    ### 5. Multi-currency

ARS, USD, EUR. The app detects your country and shows the price in your currency.

    ### 6. 7-day trial without credit card

You sign up, import Strava, you have 7 days of the Pro plan automatically activated. No card required. If you like it, you pay. If not, you stay on the free plan (which is also useful — basic metrics and dashboard).

    ### 7. 16 free calculators without login

While you decide if Vetta is for you, you can use the 16 public calculators: VDOT, FTP without power meter, HRmax, sweat rate, average pace, split time, HR/pace zones, BMI, race weight, pace conversion, altitude, heat/humidity, TSS, recovery, 5K-42K prediction.

    ### 8. Shoes and bike component wear-out

You load your shoes with purchase date and starting km. Vetta counts the km from your runs since that date and warns when a pair passes the limit (default 700 km). Same model for bike components (chain, tires, brake pads, drivetrain, etc).

This prevents injury without you having to keep a separate spreadsheet.

    ### 9. Human coach if you want to add one

If you have a human coach, you link them by email. The coach sees your dashboard, leaves session notes, prescribes specific sessions that replace the engine's for specific dates. The coach pays their Coach plan (USD 24.99/month with unlimited athletes included), you pay your Pro. No double billing.

    ### 10. Open API for integrators

12+ public `/api/v1/*` endpoints for developers to build integrations, extensions or export your data to other tools.

What Vetta does NOT do (yet)

Honest: there are things we don't cover well yet.

  • Direct sync to Garmin Connect: we export universal TCX (works on Garmin/Coros/Suunto/Polar) but requires 1 manual step. Direct Garmin Health API integration is in roadmap.
  • Enterprise coach-athlete workflow: if you're a coach with 50+ athletes and want advanced workflows (replicable templates, shared library between teams, certifications), we're still basic. Building it.
  • Native mobile app: today Vetta is a PWA (installable on Android/iOS from the browser, what you visited works offline). Capacitor native app is in roadmap only when we have enough traction.
  • Advanced power analysis with muscular effectiveness, torque, etc: we cover core metrics (FTP, NP, IF, TSS, power zones) but not the hyper-complex ones like Power-Pace Index yet.
  • Push notifications: web push is in roadmap but not implemented yet.

  • Who Vetta is for

    You're a good fit if:

  • You train 5-7 days/week, race, and want to improve.
  • You don't have a human coach (or have one only for specific situations).
  • You want to know what to do each day without studying periodization.
  • You live in LATAM or DACH and want app + support in your language.
  • You run trail at altitude or ultra-distance and want predictions that apply to your reality.
  • You have Coros, Suunto, Polar or older Garmin and need TCX export.

  • You're probably NOT a good fit if:

  • Your human coach already builds your plans on another platform and you just execute (stay there).
  • You're a coach with 30+ athletes and need enterprise workflows (we're not there yet).
  • You just want to track activities without planning (Strava is enough).
  • You need automatic push sync to your Garmin (we do manual TCX today).
